The EU will prepare measures to reduce tensions between Greece and Turkey
The proposal to prepare measures in connection with the increase in tension in the Mediterranean Sea between Greece and Turkey was put forward by the heads of 27 EU member states in a joint video conference, according to the website of the Council of the European Union. The list of actions should be worked out by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel. At the same time, the ministers reaffirmed the EU's full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus and emphasized the need to respect the sovereign rights of EU members. Also, the participants in the event came to the general opinion that a serious deterioration in relations with Turkey threatens to have dangerous consequences for the entire European Union. According to the news agency, on August 10, the Greek armed forces were put on alert due to the military exercises of the Turkish Navy in the Aegean Sea.
