One of the ports of Ukraine was transferred to the concession to Qatar
The Nikolaev specialized port of Olvia was transferred to the Qatari company QTerminals, which will manage it for 35 years. This was written by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krikliy on August 20 in his Telegram channel. In just 35 years, concessions will be attracted to 17.3 billion hryvnias (more than $633 million by the news agency) of investments. This is the first direct Qatari investment, the second largest investment after Krivorozhstal and one of the largest foreign direct investments in the port industry of Ukraine in the history of independence, he commented. The minister told the details of the transaction. According to him, the annual concession payment will be at least 80 million hryvnias, or almost $3 million, which is 16 times more than the port's profit for 2019. The Qatari company also pledged to provide a minimum transshipment volume of 2.55 million tons per year, build new real estate on the port and guarantee the employment of the enterprise's staff for six years. Krikliy noted that Ukraine will transfer the port of Chernomorsk to the next concession. According to the news agency, earlier the State Property Fund of Ukraine estimated the possible profit from the privatization of the country's distilleries at UAH 2 billion or $73.2 million.
