Killed by Black Stalin: how Emperor Haile Selassie died
On August 27, 1975, the last emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I, was killed (then it was believed that he had died). He spent the last months of his life after the military overthrow of the Negus (ruler) in the palace under house arrest. The communist regime that replaced the monarchy plunged the country into red terror, the victims of which, according to various estimates, were from 100 to 500 thousand Ethiopians.
