A painting by a Dutch painter and one of the founders of Baroque art, Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640). A portrait of a lady was discovered in one of the private London collections. At the same time, the painting in 1878 was acquired by London lawyer Charles Butler and, after it was kept in a private collection for 139 years, in 2017 it was mistakenly sold at auction as a painting of Rubens' student's brush 40 times less than the real value. Then, who bought an anonymous buyer for 78 thousand in 2017, suspected that the painting belonged to Rubens's brush and gave it for examination to the Sotheby s trading house, where house experts confirmed his assumptions. It is also reported that the authenticity of the picture was established using an infrared camera, showing hidden details indicating changes made by artists while working on the canvas. In addition, it is specified that the Portrait of the Lady is going to be put up for auction on July 29 and its estimated cost from 2.5 million to 3.5 million. Recall that Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) is a Dutch painter, one of the founders of Baroque art, diplomat, collector. His creative heritage has about 3,000 paintings, most of which were made in collaboration with students and colleagues, the largest of which was Antonis van Dyck.
