Illegal migrants arrived in Italy in the company of a poodle
Employees of the Italian Coast Guard let 11 Tunisian citizens into the island of Lampedusa, Adnkronos reports on Monday, July 27. The publication notes that the arrival of this particular group caused a stir and a lot of negative comments from local residents on social networks because these citizens were similar to refugees even less than usual. In particular, it is reported that the refugees had new backpacks and suitcases with them, some of them were wearing sunglasses, and one of the migrants brought a white poodle with him. After the exit of the Matteo Salvini League from the ruling coalition in September 2019, the Italian authorities again opened access to ports to carriers of illegal migrants. The flow of migrants has grown several times. Italian oppositionists believe that in this way the new government of liberals and populists is fulfilling the task of Brussels in exchange for the support of European bureaucrats. Center-right people believe that they need to help residents of North Africa and the Middle East at home. At the moment, the situation is complicated by the fact that dozens of arriving migrants pass positive tests for coronavirus, which raises fears of a re-outbreak of the epidemic in Italy.
