Ecuador banned the sale of alcohol on weekends due to COVID-19

Ecuadorian authorities have banned the sale of alcohol on weekends in most of the country due to the pandemic of coronavirus infection, the press service of the Republican Emergency Committee reports. From July 31 to August 12, the sale of alcohol from Friday to Sunday is prohibited, the press service said. The ban will apply in 18 of the 24 provinces of Ecuador. Also, in six of them, the curfew regime will be tightened due to the growing number of people infected with a new type of coronavirus. According to recent data, the number of confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections in Ecuador reached 84,370. 5,657 people have died from diseases caused by the new coronavirus in the republic since the beginning of the pandemic.
