Scientists transferred coronavirus genome data from market in Beijing to WHO

Data on the genome of a coronavirus found in the Beijing wholesale market were published by experts from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of China. This was announced on May 19 in a statement by the organization. Officially published data on the epidemiological situation in the Xinfadi market and the genome of the virus, the report said. In particular, the center published information about the genome labeled as NMDC60013902 01, NMDC60013903 02, and the genome of the virus found in samples from the environment (NMDC60013903 03). The centre's experts transmitted the results of their work to the World Health Organization (WHO). Earlier, a professor at the Institute of Virology of the Medical Department of Wuhan University, Yang Zhanqiu, said that the strain of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 detected at the Xinfadi wholesale market in Beijing is more contagious than the strain that was originally detected in Wuhan.
