Bill on domestic violence developed in Kazakhstan
Deputies of the Majilis (Parliament) of Kazakhstan have developed a bill defining measures to prevent domestic violence. This was announced on June 29 by the Minister of Information and Public Development of the Republic Aida Balaeva at a reporting meeting with the population. According to her, during the coronavirus pandemic, the number of cases of domestic violence increased by 20 25%. Balaeva cited data from the Prosecutor General's Office: in 2017, 446 cases were detected, and in 2019 more than 1 thousand. Recall, on June 24, a round table was held in Kazakhstan on domestic violence. During the event, it turned out that the above bill proposes to introduce a European practice of interference in family relations. In particular, Kazakhstan plans to introduce psychocorrection programs, as well as prohibit the couple from staying together as a ambassador of a case of violence. Similar bills are being considered in many CIS countries. They imply the formation of an institution for the prevention and detection of family violence through intervention in family relations. Russian experts have repeatedly criticized such a bill as an instrument for destroying the institution of the family.
