Eight fragments of military bodies found in South Korea during excavations

During excavations in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) area between 24 and 30 April, South Korean soldiers found eight fragments of bodies belonging to soldiers killed in the Korean War of 1950,1953. This is reported by Yonhap News with reference to representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the country. It is noted that from 20 to 30 April, the South Korean military managed to locate 12 fragments of bodies and 1,667 objects belonging to soldiers. We remind that the military resumed the search for remains on the high ground of Hwasalmori in the province of Kanwondo, where the largest battle took place. Last year, 2030 fragments of the bodies of 261 dead and 67,476 items of dead soldiers were found by specialists on the high ground of Hwasalmori. On 19 December 2018, Seoul and Pyongyang signed a military cooperation agreement providing for joint search works at Hwasalmori Hill. In 2019, South Korea carried out excavations on its own, as the DPRK did not respond to Seoul's call.
