Lukashenko calls to increase flexibility of gas prices within EAEU
Natural gas prices within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should be more flexible. On April 14, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting of members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, BelTA agency reports. "The price should be more adaptive, and the mechanism of calculations should be lifting for consumers," Lukashenko said. According to him, this is necessary in connection with the crisis and the coronavirus pandemic. The Belarusian leader believes that the EAEU countries have entered the crisis with problems in the sphere of the common energy market. Lukashenko said that inflexibility of prices undermines the sustainability of the union. According to the news agency, on April 9, Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich said that Minsk asked to reduce the prices of Russian gas.
