China declares criminal war on non-payers of wages
Employers who are suspected of refusing to pay wages for migrant workers in China could be prosecuted thanks to new regulations that come into effect on May 1, according to Xinhua news agency. The provision issued a few months ago to guarantee the payment of wages to migrant workers calls for increased penalties for illegal actions in this area and has become an important legal weapon in the fight against permanent illness called non-payment of wages. Employers who employ migrant workers and who owe wages must pay it in full according to the law, the provision says, otherwise they are awaiting criminal prosecution. According to the decree, employers with salary arrears with serious consequences will be blacklisted and will face a number of restrictions when obtaining financial support from the state, as well as when receiving a number of contracts for public procurement, among other things.
