Number of coronavirus infections in Albania increased to 23

On 12 March, the Deputy Minister of Health of Albania, Mira Rakatsolli, reported that 145 people had been examined for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, including 8 infected persons. Thus, so far, 23 cases of infection have been detected in Albania. According to Albanian news agency Telegrafi, five of the 23 are in an infectious hospital in Tirana, while 18 others are on home treatment under medical supervision. Their condition is not a concern. All cases of infection are related to the travel of patients themselves or their relatives or friends to Italy. On 12 March, a police raid detained more than 100 people from Italy who had evaded medical examination. They were forced to observe house quarantine for 14 days. Prime Minister Edie Rama warned that those who follow their example will be fined 5,000 euros (approximately 420 thousand rubles).
