Number of highway accidents in Latvia increased after radar shutdown - mass media
Last year, according to the former head of the State Police of Latvia Intsa Kyzis, the number of deaths and casualties caused by road accidents on the country's roads decreased, however, the government cannot find funds to finance a safe traffic environment. This is written by the LSM portal. According to journalists, due to lack of funding, the radar recording the average speed of traffic on the Tinuji Koknes highway was stopped. The Government of Latvia did not find the financial means to continue the experiment. It is noted that the number of accidents in the direction of Tinuji Koknes after the termination of the radar increased. Recall, in 2019 in Latvia on a number of road sections radars were installed not only measuring the speed of vehicles at a separate point of movement, but also pair radars. They recorded the speed of the vehicle when entering the area from which it is impossible to collapse and when leaving, measuring the average value.
