Dutch composer Reinbert de Leu died
In the Netherlands, the pianist, conductor and composer Reinbert de Leu died in his 82nd year of life. De Leu studied at the Amsterdam and Hague Conservatoria. In the latter he later also taught. In 1974 he created the Schönberg Ensemble, which for 40 years introduced the work of contemporary composers to the general public. As a pianist, De Leu gained fame with his recordings of Eric Sati's works. De Leu was the author of orchestral and vocal works, piano music, and two operas (Reconstruction and Axel) on the libretto of the famous Dutch writer G. Mulish. For his creativity, De Leu was repeatedly awarded. In 2008 he became a Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion.
